Meet our team
Full Tide Aquatic Safaris is a locally owned and operated family business. Located in the heart of the West Isles in the community of Stuart Town on picturesque Deer Island, we are just a 20-minute FREE ferry ride from L’etete NB. Our ideal location puts our departure point 30 minutes closer to the whale feeding ground than other operators, increasing whale sighting opportunities. Our lifelong ties to this area and passion for preserving this way of life are reflected in our tours and the respect we show to the nature around us.
Jared
Tour Guide
Jared, tour guide and son of Brendan, attended university in Saint John NB and Halifax NS. Having spent his summers on the water while growing up on Deer Island, Jared brings a wealth of knowledge of local geography as well as local marine and wildlife.
Brendan
Captain
Our captain, Brendan, is a 4th generation fisherman with 30 years of experience on the water. His family has long roots on both Deer Island and Grand Manan Island. Having made a living in many areas of the traditional fisheries, including lobster, scallop, and herring, as well as scuba diving, he is excited to share his love and knowledge of the local area, culture, and marine wildlife with his passengers.
Colleen
Tour Guide
Colleen, wife of Brendan, is a full time Registered nurse who doubles as a tour guide on her days off. A Deer Island native, after graduating from university in Saint John NB Colleen couldn’t resist the call of the ocean and the lure of island life. With a family heritage on Deer Island tracing back to the 1790s, the lore and history of the West Isles area has been a longtime passion which she looks forward to sharing with passengers.
Our Boat
Step aboard our 42-foot Wedgeport L lobster boat. This vessel is steeped in a rich maritime heritage. For decades, this sturdy craft has served as both a livlihood and beloved companion on the open sea. Captained by our founder and seasoned lobster fisherman, Brendan, this boat has weathered countless storms and navigated coastal waters with skill and resilience.
From dawn till dusk, our boat is the heart of our lobster fishing operation, carrying on a tradition passed down across generations. Its rugged exterior and dependable engine are matched only by the camaraderie and dedication of our crew, who work tirelessly to bring in the day’s catch. With every haul, we honor the legacy of those fishermen who have come before.
